The film was directed by the French animation collective H5, François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy + Ludovic Houplain. It was presented at the Cannes Film Festival 2009. It opened the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and won a 2010 academy award under the category of animated short

i tinki it uneccessary to include original files in this post.

these files have been corrupted to the point of ‘greydeath’. the image has been manipulated to the point that no image viewing software can decypher the image, and instead replaces the area in question with a blankcolour fill.

the recovery software, then tries to draw together the minor amounts of information remaining to guess as to what the image SHOULD look like. but due to the deliberate nature of the corruption (me), the best it can do is create colour patterns.

here i tried to add parts of another file in a different filetype. it wass to much difference, and created GREYDEATH.the recovery look interesting. it’s a [jpg] file, seemingly meaning the rec software works in blocks rtrying to recover, creating the pattern above.

summary:
the offsets;when the image is displaced vertically or horizontally, are when i have deleted lines or parts of lines of code. where there is a bar of complete static, this is wher i have tried to insert another file into it to get a glitch merge. this effect is easily gotten in photoshop, but i would have liked for it to happen with code and be surprised byanomalies.

the colouring, it seems is dependent on where you stop your deletion of information.similar to when you look closeley at your tv screen, red-green-blue bars are visible, here, because they work together to create an accurate image, the deletion brings a colour to the fore.
